Madhu Purnima Kishwar was Professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) and Director Indic Studies Project. She is also a well-known writer. Her works include ‘Zealous Reformers and Deadly Laws’, ‘Modi Muslims and Media: Voices from Narendra Modis Gujarat’ and ‘Deepening Democracy: Challenge of Governance and Globalization in India’. She has been awarded Maulana Azad National Professorship of the Indian Council for Social Science Research and was also the founder-editor of Manushi - A Journal about Women and Society.
