About the Book : This is a handy reference volume presenting for the first time a comparative study of the development of various facets of education in the States and the Union Territories of India on the basis of total population and school- going population wherever possible in the respective age groups. The data have been derived from the latest statistics published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India, and the Fifth All-India Educational Survey (1989), NCERT. Comparative data cover as many as 39 items like enrolment ratios, institutions, etc. The book provides an overview of administration, management, planning and financing of education in India, comparative educational data of States, comparative study of diverse educational issues in States as well as Union Territories and all India education profile and development of education in India during the period 1950-51 to 1986-87.

About the Author : J.C. Aggarwal (b. 1928), has a varied experience in the field of education. He was Deputy Director of Education and Executive Director of Education and Executive Director of Delhi Bureau of Text Books under Delhi Administration. He has organised and attended any conferences, seminars and workshops in education. Shri Aggarwal has authored more than seventy books on various aspects of social sciences. Sarita Aggarwal (b. 1957) is presently working as a Post Graduate Teacher in Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. She takes a keen interest in current educational through, problems and practices.
